Tales from the Twilight World was Blind Guardian's third album, and the one that broke them to a wider audience in Germany and helped score them a deal with the German division of Virgin Records. It's no surprise, then, that it was their best-crafted record up to that point, as the band had mastered its fusion of technical speed metal, powerful Judas Priest-esque grooves, and a dramatic, neo 9/

The band consider this album the one where they found their unique sound. They spent all income generated from "Follow the Blind" into building their own studio, which included a track recording/mixing desk, that enabled them to work on the songs more. "The Last Candle" was the last song composed for the album.

Tales from the Twilight World is simply another great Blind Guardian album, even if it's not always gunning at %. Though I didn't enjoy it as much as Follow the Blind, the quality is close, and it feels like the band took even more liberties here to incorporate a wide array of lyrical subjects that focus on fantasy and science fiction.
