  1. While Best Of may not be inclusive enough for the avid collector because it focuses more on Blondie's new wave dance hits than on their punk beginnings, songs like "Heart of Glass," "Dreaming," "The Tide Is High," and "Call Me" display the diverse musical styles this band embraced. It's a new wave album, a reggae album, a dance album, a punk album, and a rap album/5().

  3. Loved Blondie and loved this CD. BTW, does anyone know that Blondie is the first rapper? Blondie's "Rapture" came out before the Sugar Hill Gang's "Rapper's Delight", although SHG's lyrics were considerably less stupid (the man from Mars eats your head -???)/5(20).

  5. This definitely is the best Blondie compilation - basically all the big hit singles, uncluttered by extended 12" versions, pointless remixes or sub-par live tracks. Every song is an absolute cracker, and they do stand the test of time/5().

  7. Oct 17,  · referencing The Best Of Blondie, LP, Comp, CDL TV1 Track A1 Heart Of Glass on this pressing is the USA version with the lyric 'Pain in the Ass' at the end of the last chorus. I spent ages looking for this version and when found it on a single I then found it everywhere, on 70s compilations and now on this Blondie LP/5(2K).
  8. The Best of Blondie glosses over their punk roots -- very little from the first album, apart from the vicious "Rip Her to Shreds" and the seductive "In the Flesh" -- but the band's pop hits are among the finest of their era and encapsulate all of the virtues of new wave/
